How To: Clean Your Makeup Brushes Like A Pro!

What you need:
Baby Shampoo
Dish soap (ex. Dawn) -gets rid of all that nasty bacteria! Gross, right?
Extra Virgin Olive Oil -moisturizes the bristles
Plate
Dirty makeup brushes (duh!)

Though makeup brushes are not quite as harmful as sponge applicators, if not washed regularly, they can harvest bacteria which could cause acne on the face. Nobody likes acne, right?

Makeup brush cleansers are available at many stores (ex. Sephora, MAC Cosmetics, Ulta, etc.) BUT can sometimes become pricey.

Good thing you can clean your brushes with common household items found in your kitchen or bathroom!

Using Baby Shampoo:
Wet your makeup brush under warm water and place a drop of baby shampoo onto your hand. Swirl the brush in circles to remove all the dirt. Place the brush under warm water again and gently squeeze all the water out until it becomes clear.
And voila, you're done!

Using Dawn and Extra Virgin Olive Oil:
Grab a plate and pour 2 parts Dawn and 1 part extra virgin olive oil. Swirl your makeup brush in the mixture then rub the brush against the palm of your hand. Keeping swirling then place the brush under warm water. Gently squeeze all the water until it becomes clear.
This is my favorite method. It rids the brush of all the dirt and leaves it feeling and looking like new!
